Director Support

WEEKLY Service- Halpin Music has long been known for its service to our music educators. Our educational reps are dedicated to making your job as easy as possible.

FAST Repair Turnaround- As a band director, you know how frustrating it can be to lose a school instrument to breakdown at the most inopportune time. Halpin Music's speedy repair turnaround on ALL repairs insures that downtime will be kept to an absolute minimum.

FREE Loaner Instruments- If we can't get it back to you on time, we will (when available) loan you an instrument to use. Plus, our student instrument rental program includes loaner instruments for your aspiring musicians so they won't lose any practice time!

Accessories/Supplies IN STOCK- From mouthpieces to mallets, valve oil to valve caps and drum heads to drum hardware, we have what you need! Our large inventory and even larger supplier base means we can get even the hardest to find accessory item!

Band Methods- Halpin Music carries all of the popular band methods (and even some that aren't so popular) for your beginning band students.

Educational Aids- From Band folders to practice cards to posters and recruiting videos, we have all of the necessary "extras" to help make your program efficient and effective.

Our Educational Representatives

Larry Schaefer- Larry has been with Halpin Music since 1992 but has worked in the music education field for 25+ years. Larry plays several musical instruments and is extremely knowledgeable in all of our product groups. Larry serves music educators in parts of Madison, Clinton, Washington, Macoupin and St. Clair counties. Larry resides in Staunton.

Dick Rogers- Dick has been with Halpin Music since 1995. His experience in the field of music education is extensive. He was a band director for 30 years, retiring from Edwardsville Senior High School after 24 years of service. He is an accomplished trombonist, playing regularly in a local brass quintet and in other groups as a freelance player and director. Dick serves music educators in Madison, Clinton, and part of St. Clair county.

Michael Bryant- Michael joined Halpin Music in the spring of 1998, but has worked serving music educators for over 20 years. He is a skilled guitarist and is in high demand as a freelance player. Michael serves music educators in St. Clair, Bond, Macoupin, Jersey, Montgomery, Calhoun and Greene counties. He lives in Collinsville with his wife and son.


Support Staff

Mark Landon- Co-owner of Halpin Music, Mark has been employed since 1980, assuming ownership with Brock Hermens in 1995. A graduate of SIU-E, Mark plays tuba and bass guitar, and is music director at his church in Alton. Mark lives in Alton with his wife and 2 daughters.

Brock Hermens- co-Owner with Mark Landon, Brock has been employed at Halpin Music since 1986. He is a freelance sax player, and a music business graduate Northeast Missouri (now Truman) State University. Brock lives in Dow with his wife and two sons, and serves his local church as choir director.

Carolyn Beatty- Has been employed at Halpin Music since 1983. Carolyn is our sheet music and band accessories specialist. Although semi-retired, she still uses her expertise in the school music business to help us help our band director and student customers.

John Iaun- John joined the Halpin Music staff in September 2000. He brings extensive knowledge of the piano and keyboard market segment derived from his 25 years experience in retail music in Southern California. He is a talented pianist and is the accompanist for a local church, and resides in Alton.

Luis Rojas- Joined the Halpin Music team in August 2008 after graduating with a Music Business degree from Evansville University in the spring of 2008. Luis played in numerous ensembles while at Evansville and is a skilled trumpet player. He has replaced Carolyn Beatty as our full time expert in the school music area, and is an invaluable addition to the Halpin Music staff. Luis lives in Jerseyville with his wife Cara, who is a band director in the Calhoun public schools, and their son Cristian.

John Hand- John joined the Halpin Music sales staff in October 2005, although he has been a member of our teaching staff since 2003. He is a talented and multi-faceted musician (percussion and piano) with a degree in music business from SIU-E. He is a 2000 graduate of Alton High School, and a proud alum of the school's "Marching 100". John lives in Godfrey with his wife Anne.
